Launceston Racecourse is one of two major metropolitan race tracks in Tasmania and is home to a range of great thoroughbred races including the leading Launceston race, the coveted Group 3 Launceston Cup (2400m).

Throughout this time, the Launceston track hosts around five major meetings where great Launceston races such as the Listed Tasmanian Oaks (2100m) and the Tasmanian Magic Millions 2YO Classic (1200m) light up the track.

Launceston racecourse is looked after by the Tasmanian Turf Club and was previously named Tasman Park but is now officially called the TOTE Racing Centre.

Located around three kilometres outside the Launceston city centre, the TOTE Racing Centre hosts approximately 25 race meetings a year.

The premier thoroughbred race held at Launceston’s TOTE Racing Centre is the $300,000 Group 3 Launceston Cup (2400m). This prestigious staying event is the central race of the summer carnival in Tasmania and is run under open handicap conditions.

Launceston races take place on a track that has a 1830m circumference and an extremely short 230m straight. Racing direction is anti-clockwise.
